MEXICAN COCOA

At the base of this enchanting blend is the dark, rich scent of Mexican chocolate. Rounded out with mild notes of bitter almond, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla, this recipe has been a longtime favorite of Pacifica devotees. Traditionally chocolate has symbolized the ability of lovers to remain sweet to each other. Cocoa ignites passion and evokes notions of indulgence, temptation, and pleasure. Luxury, romance, and happiness are all associated with chocolate, as well. Although chocolate may not actually be a true aphrodisiac, it does contain theobromine, a mild relative of caffeine and a component found in some tranquilizers. Theobromide gives chocolate the unique ability to simultaneously pick you up and calm you down. In addition, it is said that eating chocolate releases a chemical in your body similar to the one produced when you fall in love. Aztec Indian legend held that cacao seeds originated in Paradise and that wisdom and power came from eating the fruit of the cacao tree. In Oaxaca, every family has their own recipe for chocolate, which is consumed at celebrations.
